This is my 4th homebuilt aircraft project. The first one to be finished was a Van's RV-6A that was completed in 18 months during 2000 and 2001. Click here to see my RV-6A Next was my 4-place Bearhawk, which was scratch built and was constructed over a 4 1/2 year period. Click here to see my Bearhawk website. The RV was a nice fast airplane (about 158 knots) but the load carrying capabilities were limited with me weighing in at 240 lbs. I also got tired of looking at the top of the wing all of the time. I sold the plane the following year and built the Bearhawk, finishing it in May of 2008. My dream is to explore the USA one 3 day weekend at a time, carrying baggage, camping gear and occasionally giving a 3rd or 4th person a ride. All of this can be done in the Bearhawk. With the Bearhawk completed and flying, I really missed having a project. The Bearhawk was so well done, that I decided to stick with the designer Bob Barrow's for my next project. Bob designed a 2 place, tandem seated aircraft called the Bearhawk Patrol. This a just-for-fun airplane that resembles a Super Cub but with better performance. This web site will serve as my builder's log as I build the Patrol. This time it won't be a scratch built. I have decided to go with a quickbuild kit sold by Avipro aircraft. As I build the Patrol, I will thoroughly document the process here in great detail and with lots of photos. This Patrol will be built mostly in my garage and I'm hoping to finish it in about 1 year. I view building any homebuilt aircraft as an adventure of discovery and excitement. So come along and join me for this adventure. If you are interested in starting your own Bearhawk Patrol airplane project you can purchase the plans from:
R & B Aircraft Just recently, Bob Barrows finished up his LSA Bearhawk. He is now selling the plans for the new Bearhawk LSA. You can purchase them here:
Avipro sells the Patrol and 4-place Bearhawk kits. Go to their website by clicking on the airplane below to go to the official Avipro Bearhawk Aircraft web page.
